The DC motor is a machine that transforms electric energy into mechanical energy in form of rotation. Its movement is produced by the physical behavior of electromagnetism. DC motors have inductors inside, which produce the magnetic field used to generate movement.
DC Motors are available in 12 and 24V motors to support solar, marine and portable (truck mounted) equipment and other equipment. DC technology is more cost effective than AC in general for lower horsepower applications and things that run on batteries.
Replacing a DC motor’s general specifications usually include weight, shaft length and shaft diameter as well as motor length and diameter. Mark the voltage, RPM, category number and model number. Other useful dimensions include the location of mounting holes and thread type.
